2026年9月4日に何が起きるのか
Googleは公式コミュニティのアナウンス（Gemini Appsチームのコミュニティマネージャー名義・固定投稿）で、スマホのGoogle Assistantを終了すると告知しています。2026年9月4日をもって大半のユーザーはスマホ・タブレットでGoogle Assistantを使うことも、Geminiから戻すこともできなくなります。
ここで落としてはいけないのが「most users」という限定です。全員が同じ日に一斉に使えなくなるとは書かれていません。Geminiの最低動作要件を満たさない端末は当面Google Assistantのまま。Googleが公式ブログの脚注でそう断っています。
対象になる利用者にはメールで詳細が届いています。心当たりがあればまず受信箱を確認するのが早いです。

Google Assistant終了の影響が及ぶ機器と、及ばない機器
「Google Assistantが終わる」と聞くと家中の機器が止まる絵を思い浮かべますが、今回の対象はスマホ・タブレットとそれにぶら下がっている機器だけです。ここを分けておけば余計な準備をせずに済みます。
9月4日以降どうなるか（機器別）
分かれ目はスマホ経由かどうかです。スマホとペアリングして動く機器は道連れになり、機器自体にGoogle Assistantが内蔵されているものは残ります。公式が対象側にAndroid Autoの車を挙げ、対象外側に車を挙げているのはこのためで、同じ「車」でも経路が違えば扱いが逆になります。

Geminiへ移行する前に確認しておく4点
やることは多くありません。ただし9月4日を過ぎると戻せないので、確認は前倒しにしておきます。
切り替え前のチェック手順
とくに見落としやすいのが Step 4 です。仕事用・学校用のGoogleアカウントでGemini Appsを使う場合、Google Assistantを土台にしていた機能（クイック音声操作など）を含む一部が利用できません。業務でスマホの音声操作を使い込んでいるなら、9月4日より前に代替手段を決めておきます。
保護者管理の側も同じです。Family Linkで管理しているアカウントなら、13歳未満（年齢は国で変わります）のユーザーについて保護者がGemini Appsへのアクセスを止められます。子ども用端末で音声アシスタントを使わせているなら、切り替え後に何が残るかを先に見ておきます。
音声で話しかけたときのマイクは最大5分開いたままになります。家族と共有している端末なら、この挙動だけ先に伝えておくと混乱しません。

Google AssistantがGeminiへ置き換わる理由

まとめ：9月4日までにやることは1つ
期日は2026年9月4日、対象はスマホ・タブレットとペアリング機器、据え置き機器は対象外。この3点を押さえれば十分です。
