何が変わったのか
発表はピチャイ氏がGDMの各チームへ送った社内メッセージの公開という形を取りました。変更点は2つ。ハサビス氏の役割の移動とコライ氏の昇格です。
ハサビス氏はGDMの会長（Chair）とAlphabetの主任科学者（Chief Scientist）に就き、Isomorphic Labsの指揮も続けます。ピチャイ氏が挙げた理由は、ハサビス氏が外部との関わりに時間を割いてきたこと、そしてAGI（汎用人工知能）の未来を形づくることに全注意を向けられる役割を長く話し合ってきたことです。

後任の肩書きは「CEO」ではない
報道では「CEO交代」と読まれやすい発表ですが、公式メッセージにCEOという語は出てきません。コライ氏の新しい肩書きは SVP of Google DeepMind で、ピチャイ氏に直接報告する形です。
担当範囲は明記されています。Geminiモデルの開発、フロンティアAI研究、そしてGeminiアプリと開発者向けチーム。モデルを作る側と届ける側の両方が1人の下に集まった形です。
コライ氏はDeepMindの初期から在籍する13年選手で、同社のディープラーニングチームを立ち上げ、音声合成のWaveNetや強化学習のDQNを主導したと紹介されています。異動前の肩書きはGDMの最高技術責任者（CTO）で、Googleの主任AIアーキテクトはSVP就任後も兼任します。
